The View

So this week-end in Paris everyone and their mum was rocking their denim shorts, getting their groggy feet out parading in brand new sandals, getting sun-burnt while care-freely sipping Aperol Spritz, and coming back to life after what felt like the longest winter ever.
Everyone, including myself.

The reason behind this sudden rush in parks and café terraces lies in the (simple yet depressing) fact that this week-end was the one and only 'pont' of the year. A 'bridge' as we could literally translate it from the French, is for example when, like last week, thursday is a bank holiday and people take their friday off to enjoy a sunny 4-day break (always in May, a 'pont' usually goes with blue sky and warm weather).

2016 is a sad SAD year since us Frenchies are losing two 'pont' opportunities with the 1st and 8th May turned into regular Sundays ... *sighs*

Since weeks have been very busy lately, and I had to work on both friday and saturday during this providential 'pont', I really wanted to make the most of this glorious sunny sunday.

With my husband and friends, we decided to get some cultural action and visited the Paul Klee exhibition in the Centre Pompidou, one of my favorite museums in Paris. Contemporary art somehow speaks
more to me than more classical art, but the best part about visiting the Centre Pompidou is probably the unique view it offers on Paris.

I’m always breath-taken when I arrive on top of this quirky building made of colorful pipes and glass.
Paris is beautiful from every angle, but I especially love it from above, overlooking the contrasting grey zinc roofs and orange brick chimneys.
I like to play the game of ‘spot the monument’, guessing the name of each of the amazing buildings spread before my eyes.

Do you recognize some iconic Paris monuments on these pictures ?
